Sam Weiss Evans
- Biography
Sam Weiss Evans is Assistant Research Professor in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at Tufts University.
Sam's research focuses on the ways scientific knowledge and democratic orders are co-produced around questions of security. His projects analyze who is allowed to decide when science is a security concern and how that decision is embedded within ways of governing those concerns. His areas of work include the scientific areas around computing, biology, and geoengineering, and governance areas around export controls, secrecy, and networks of stakeholders. His current projects involve actively engaging in experiments in security governance, where practitioners are exploring how to govern when taking on more STS-inclined assumptions about the relationship between science, the state, and security.
